The Pillow is done:)

I finished the Bushel and a Peck pillow today. It turned out cute but you know the place mat is just a bit too small for the stencil. It is ok though cause I have lots of other stencils and material and ideas!

But this thing is done..and it is now Bryar's Pillow.

Repurposed place mats into pillows....

So today was another garage sale day! I just love them you know:) I found these awesome place mats .25¢ each and got home just in time for my new stencil to come in the mail. Perfect timing!

These are on their way to being pillows. I can't wait to get them finished but for right now I want to show you the fronts of the pillows. Well first I have to say I have the cutest grand kids. Two boys, Landon and Dierks they are two years old,and we are getting another boy in just a couple days..can't wait for that! We have one grand daughter, Bryar who is now 5 years old. But from the time she was born I would sing to her (probably cruel and unusual punishment..LOL) But I would sing "I love you a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck" So there....that should explain this!

I will post a picture when the pillows are done!

Solar Lights on a Shoestring!

I have seen the solar lids that go on the mason jars and I think it is a wonderful idea. The only problem is that they are so expensive! It struck me one day that if I bought the Mini-Solar lights that you can get for $1.50 or sometimes even $1.00 that I could modify them to use in different sized jars.

My daughter was getting married here at the farm, and we thought that tons of solar lights hanging all over the place, hanging in the trees, sitting on the ground, and on the tables would be so romantic. So for a fraction of the cost of the Solar Lid lights, I made these, using different sized jars, some new and some left over, adding iridescent paper shreds. We used rusty wire for a primitive look, around the tops and made wire hangers. They turned out to be beautiful!

Here are some pictures of the lights, I gathered some of them and set them on a table, please forgive some of the photos, it is hard to photograph lights!

June 7, 2012

Well, the sale was a huge success! Hardly had to bring anything home, and I know John was grateful that he did not have to come back with the truck and load things up to bring home! I hope everyone just loves the new things they got:)

Here is a picture of one more little table that I repurposed...I just think it is too cute:) It did not sell, and I think it is because I priced it so high....I really didn't want it to go.

I love the color and the knobs...and it is a lot of fun to look at...so welcome home little table!

Repurposed Dresser

May 31, 2012

So here is my repurposed dresser. I found it for $15.00, I was not sure I should buy it, but I went ahead and did it anyway:)

I decided it could be a Dry Bar, a refreshment station on a covered patio or in a sunroom. It would look nice as a book case or accent table in an entryway. Whatever you like:)

I did not want to make it like a new piece of furniture...just an old piece ...repurposed.

So here is the dresser before all this...and a few pictures of what I did.

I took the drawers out and tried to decide exactly what to do.

When I decided what I wanted it to look like, I thought the front of the drawers would look nice as the top covering the bottom drawer.

I cut the bottom drawer brace and pulled it out.

Then I needed to strip the beautiful pink paint off the top and off of the front of the drawers.

Wait for it.......

After seeing the really awesome oak under the paint...I decided that just a few coats of Poly would give me just the look I wanted. Still old and still painted, but with a little bit of nice wood. I bought some great knobs and there you are! I love it!

Old Lamp Plant Stand

May 29, 2012:

Here is a little pland stand I made from an old lamp, I took the top off and found a bundt pan at a garage sale. I spray painted the pan purple and put it on top of the lamp. I had this little glass bird that I have had for a few years and it was just calling to me to sit on top of that lamp!

I found the perfect plants, petunias and a sweet potato vine and Wah La! I love this little thing:)
